Independent analysis of public source code

DEFRA PRSD-IWS application recovery

PRSD-IWS supports the administration of international waste shipments. Harten analysed 423,897 lines of its publicly available .NET source to produce application documentation, a recovered specification and a proposed modernisation plan.

This case study shows the actual documents produced and the questions they leave open. It is not a DEFRA-commissioned engagement or a completed modernisation.

Source and version information

The README records a Visual Studio solution, .NET Framework 4.5.2 development SDK, SQL Server Express 2014, NuGet dependencies, AliaSQL database setup, and xUnit/FakeItEasy tests. These are historical repository instructions. Generated analyses also report projects targeting .NET Framework 4.8; neither statement establishes the production runtime or a single application-wide target framework.

The preserved upstream README and licence were retrieved at commit 95f7eeae92f82a8db3c609f14ce2483c6e7cb738. This is the pinned revision for this overview, not a verified identification of the analysed revision. The retained analysis is bound to source-archive SHA-256 3452e285a66ecd243d07e3f1df3ba1379a859b6078f24425b6e159f591283e85; its upstream Git commit remains unresolved. See source provenance.
