CardDemo: impact graphs
In this document
Assessment baseline: 22 October 2026. These graphs connect inspected application relationships to business behaviour and candidate checks. They distinguish what the source documents from what is inferred and what remains unresolved. They are static evidence graphs; no application execution or test result is represented. CARD-SRC-02 CARD-SRC-03 CARD-SRC-09
How to read the edges
| Edge label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Documented | The cited source, configuration or public candidate directly records the relationship. A documented control-flow edge does not prove its runtime outcome. |
| Inferred | The relationship expresses a reasoned business consequence or proposed use of the evidence. It still needs observation or an applicability decision. |
| Unresolved | Missing installed identity, configuration or observed behaviour prevents the relationship from being settled. |
Dotted edges mark inferred or unresolved relationships. The text label states which class applies. Sources for each edge group follow its graph.
Authorisation reply and IMS persistence
The retained handler makes the credit decision and sends a correlated reply before the later IMS write. The request and reply use no-syncpoint options. The graph therefore identifies the response/state comparison as a concrete verification target without claiming that an actual requester received an inconsistent approval. CARD-FIND-01 is externally correlated with IBM API semantics; CARD-FIND-03 leaves deployed runtime applicability unresolved. CARD-SRC-02 CARD-SRC-10 CARD-SRC-11

| Graph relationship | Evidence and limit |
|---|---|
| Request → handler → decision → reply | The source receives the request, evaluates application data and retains the request correlation identifier for the reply. These are documented relationships corresponding to CARD-EDGE-01, CARD-EDGE-02 and CARD-EDGE-03. CARD-SRC-02 CARD-SRC-08 |
| Handler → IMS state after reply | 5000-PROCESS-AUTH calls the send routine before the database-write routine. This is source order, corresponding to CARD-EDGE-04; it is not proof of actual reply receipt. CARD-SRC-02 |
| No-syncpoint request and reply labels | The options are source facts. IBM's descriptions supply the vendor semantics, including the put's availability and backout behaviour. CARD-EDGE-05 and CARD-EDGE-06 provide this correlation. The documentation version does not identify the installed release. CARD-SRC-02 CARD-SRC-10 CARD-SRC-11 |
| Reply and IMS state → agreement of response and recorded state | The comparison is inferred from the source and the candidate scenario. CARD-EDGE-07 and CARD-EDGE-08 do not establish an incident. CARD-SRC-02 CARD-SRC-08 CARD-SRC-09 |
| Response/state comparison → candidate C13-13 | The public edition proposes a later IMS write failure after the response. CARD-EDGE-09 identifies a candidate, not a completed check. CARD-SRC-09 |
| MQ identity → bound inventory → future notice regression | CARD-EDGE-20 is unresolved because no installed MQ release/service level is established. CARD-EDGE-22 is inferred: a future applicable runtime change could select the authorisation regression check after notice applicability is established. CARD-SRC-02 CARD-SRC-05 CARD-SRC-06 CARD-SRC-09 |
| CICS/IMS identity → bound inventory | CARD-EDGE-21 is unresolved because no installed CICS or IMS release/service level is established. The evidence cannot yet bind these dependencies to a version-specific notice. CARD-SRC-05 CARD-SRC-06 |
The IMS state is described as DBPAUTP0 summary/detail persistence using PAUTSUM0 and PAUTDTL1. A later CICS syncpoint appears in the retained processing loop. Neither fact supplies evidence that a previously available reply would be withdrawn or that a controlled IMS failure has already been observed. CARD-SRC-02 CARD-SRC-08 CARD-SRC-10
Paired account/customer update and rollback
The account-maintenance path compares original values, rewrites the account and then the customer. A customer-rewrite failure requests rollback. Whether the installed resources restore a consistent pair remains unresolved. CARD-FIND-02 therefore connects source control flow to a configuration review and two candidate scenarios. | Graph relationship | Evidence and limit |
|---|---|
CAUP → COACTUPC → account, then customer |
The program and sample transaction definitions establish the path and rewrite order: CARD-EDGE-10, CARD-EDGE-11 and CARD-EDGE-12. CARD-SRC-03 CARD-SRC-04 |
| Customer failure → rollback request | The failed customer-rewrite branch requests SYNCPOINT ROLLBACK. CARD-EDGE-13 describes the branch, not successful recovery. CARD-SRC-03 |
| Rollback request → effective recovery | IBM describes rollback of recoverable resources and the relevance of catalog LOG attributes. CARD-EDGE-14 records the dependency. CARD-SRC-12 CARD-SRC-13 |
| Effective recovery → paired integrity | CARD-EDGE-15 is unresolved. The sample declares RECOVERY(NONE), but installed FILE definitions and ICF catalog attributes are missing. The sample alone cannot settle the rollback outcome. CARD-SRC-03 CARD-SRC-04 CARD-SRC-12 CARD-SRC-13 |
| Account/customer → paired integrity | Each record participates in the update under review: CARD-EDGE-16 and CARD-EDGE-17. CARD-SRC-03 CARD-SRC-09 |
| Paired integrity → C13-03; original-value comparison → C13-04 | CARD-EDGE-18 and CARD-EDGE-19 connect the existing candidates to the source. Both checks remain not run. CARD-SRC-03 CARD-SRC-09 |
| Bound runtime inventory → paired-update regression | CARD-EDGE-23 is inferred: once a relevant CICS or recovery change is established as applicable, the known paired-update path would direct review to CARD-TEST-02. No installed change or matched notice is asserted. CARD-SRC-03 CARD-SRC-05 CARD-SRC-09 |
What would change an edge's status
CARD-TEST-04 can establish installed identities and deployment relationships. CARD-TEST-02 can provide effective resource settings and observed recovery outcomes. CARD-TEST-01 and CARD-TEST-03 can supply observations for their respective behaviour boundaries. Those tasks have not yet supplied evidence.
CARD-TEST-05 must establish the authority of the selected candidate scenarios for the chosen executable. Until then, a documented candidate edge means that the public edition proposes the scenario; it does not mean that the expected result is an approved requirement or that the retained source and PDF edition are identical. This preserves CARD-FIND-04. CARD-SRC-01 CARD-SRC-07 CARD-SRC-09 CARD-SRC-14
