Main menu and access behavior

Capability: Main menu and access behavior
menu1.4gl.main connects to the stores7 database and declares global customer and order records, a MONEY total-price variable, and SMALLINT variables cur, exist, and priv. It initializes cur to 1, exist to 0, calls tot_price() to create a temporary price table, and then calls show_menu(). E0009
Before each menu display, show_menu() hides all options. Privileged users receive all options; nonprivileged users see only Query, Detail, Switch, and Exit. The Switch command changes between customer and order forms, updates cur, and clears the form when exist is zero. Exit leaves the menu loop, after which MAIN closes forms and windows. E0009
The overall assessment characterizes customer management, order entry, customer/order lookup, mailing-label reporting, and accounts-receivable reporting as working areas, while stock maintenance, backlog reporting, stock-list reporting, and order update/delete are intentionally incomplete. This high-level classification should be read alongside the source-specific defects and conditional findings above. E0008
Harten documentation of the Informix 4GL and Java source repository, from the retained 17 October 2026 export. The exact upstream revision analysed is not established. Source findings do not establish runtime behaviour or equivalence between the implementations.
