Data: shared records and reference data
D4_Globals retrieves values through Application.GLOBALS_KEY, initializes missing values, and exposes mutable records and options including customer, orders, items, stock, state, and print-option data. Other modules retrieve the same global module through application module lookup. This establishes application-wide sharing across flows rather than local ownership of each record. The source does not establish whether access is single-threaded, so concurrency safety is unresolved. E0012
The global structures include capacities of ten for items, thirty for stock, and fifty for states. D4_Main calls the state and stock loaders before entering the main menu. The loaders stop when their capacities are exceeded and retain only the maximum supported count. Consequently, more than fifty state rows or thirty stock rows are not retained in memory by the visible startup process. E0012
State records provide two-character state codes mapped to full state names for address-related lookup and validation. The exact validation contract, including how customer operations consume state results, remains unresolved because the customer implementation is absent. E0013 E0012
Harten documentation of the Informix 4GL and Java source repository, from the retained 17 October 2026 export. The exact upstream revision analysed is not established. Source findings do not establish runtime behaviour or equivalence between the implementations.
Evidence identifiers are retained for traceability. The underlying analysis records are not included in this public edition; credential values are redacted. About this case study.
