Component cooperation

In this document

Which internal components cooperate, what are their responsibilities, and what passes between them?

This view covers the evidenced cooperation around stock management: the main menu invokes the stock module, shared application state holds preloaded stock records, and order entry can read those records for line-item selection E0007. The stock handlers themselves are present but each reports that the operation is not implemented, so menu structure must not be read as working stock CRUD E0001E0002E0007. The evidence also distinguishes stock lookup during order entry from stock maintenance; lookup is evidenced, while add, find, update, and delete handlers are stubs E0007. Database schema and framework behavior are incomplete in the supplied material, so this view does not assert persistence or runtime behavior beyond the reported source findings E0001E0002.

Elements

D4_Main

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: Main application component providing the main menu and invoking Customer, Orders, Stock, Reports, and Exit operations; it also loads shared state records, including stock data E0001E0007.
Evidence: E0001, E0007

D4_Stock

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: Stock-management component exposing add, find/query, update, and delete operations through the STOCK menu. Each reported handler displays “This option has not been implemented,” so the component provides menu structure without evidenced stock-maintenance implementation E0001E0002E0007.
Evidence: E0001, E0002, E0007

D4_Globals

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: Shared state component defining stock records in an array of up to 30 entries, together with stock and state counters and other application-level records E0001E0007.
Evidence: E0001, E0007

D4_Orders

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: Order-entry component that collects line items and can use stock selection during entry. A stock lookup can populate item fields from a selected stock record, after which quantity and price are used to calculate the line total E0001E0007.
Evidence: E0001, E0007

Stock records

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: Shared stock data records contain stock number, manufacturer, description, unit price, and unit description fields; the main program loads stock and manufacturer details into the shared stock array E0007.
Evidence: E0007

Relationships

From: D4_Main
To: D4_Stock
Relation: calls
Basis: reported
Description: The main menu’s Stock command calls the stock-management routine, which presents the STOCK menu and its add, find, update, delete, and exit commands E0001E0007.
Evidence: E0001, E0007
Trigger: Selecting Stock from the main menu E0007
Mechanism: Menu command dispatch E0007
Control: The individual stock handlers report that their options are not implemented E0001E0007

Main component loads shared stock state

From: D4_Main
To: D4_Globals
Relation: exchanges
Basis: reported
Description: The main application loads stock and manufacturer details and stores them in the shared stock-record array defined by the global state E0001E0007.
Evidence: E0001, E0007
Information: Stock number, manufacturer details, description, unit price, and unit description E0007
Mechanism: Database selection into shared application records is described in the source findings; the supplied evidence does not establish the framework’s runtime persistence behavior E0001E0002

Shared state supplies stock records

From: D4_Globals
To: Stock records
Relation: exchanges
Basis: reported
Description: The shared global state contains the stock-record array, with capacity for 30 stock entries, and a stock count used with the loaded records E0001E0007.
Evidence: E0001, E0007
Information: Stock and manufacturer details, descriptions, prices, and stock count E0007

Order entry reads stock selection

From: D4_Orders
To: D4_Globals
Relation: exchanges
Basis: reported
Description: During order entry, stock selection can retrieve a stock record and populate the current item fields; the order-entry flow therefore reads stock data held in the shared stock state E0007.
Evidence: E0007
Trigger: Entering a stock number or manufacturer code and invoking the stock lookup action E0007
Information: Selected stock information, including description and unit price E0007
Control: Invalid lookup results clear the description and unit-price fields E0007

Stock records populate order lines

From: Stock records
To: D4_Orders
Relation: exchanges
Basis: reported
Description: A selected stock record supplies order-line information used by order entry, including description and unit price; a valid quantity and unit price then produce the line total E0007.
Evidence: E0007
Information: Stock selection, description, unit price, quantity, and calculated total price E0007

Gaps

The evidence does not establish a successful stock-management data exchange between D4_Stock and a database because all four stock handlers are explicitly unimplemented E0001E0002E0007. The reported source does establish stock loading and order-entry lookup, but it does not provide the complete framework implementation needed to verify object lifecycles, shared-state scope, or runtime execution E0001E0002. The database schema and exact persistence behavior for stock and manufacturer data are absent E0001E0002. The supplied material also contains broader documentation claiming stock options in the application domain, but the executable findings qualify those options as unimplemented E0003E0007. Follow-up should obtain the database schema, framework classes, and any implementation or later revision of the stock handlers before asserting stock CRUD behavior.
