Component cooperation

In this document

Which internal components cooperate, what are their responsibilities, and what passes between them?

This view separates source-supported component responsibilities from runtime cooperation. The evidence supports Java/Swing form artifacts, declared interfaces, generated record-like structures, and documented Informix-4GL examples; it does not establish that the Java components call one another at runtime. E0004 E0006

Read each element as a named component or component boundary. “Reported” identifies a directly named interface or source artifact; “inferred” identifies a cautious interpretation of related evidence. The absence of a relationship is intentional: the supplied material does not provide executable call sites, controller wiring, SQL execution paths, or confirmed data-exchange paths between these components. Elements

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: ID4_Main.java.svn-base declares menu control and methods named get_states() and get_stocks(). Help content describes menu areas for customers, orders, stock, reports, and exit, but this is documentary evidence rather than proof of current runtime behavior. E0004
Evidence: E0004, E0005

Customer Form Layer

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: The customer form artifacts define customer-number, name, company, address, city, state, ZIP, and phone fields and use Java/Swing-oriented controls such as TextBox, MaskedTextBox, FieldGroup, and ScreenRecord. The supplied evidence does not establish the complete customer controller or persistence path. E0004 E0006
Evidence: E0004, E0006

Order Form Layer

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: The order artifacts define order and customer fields, shipping-related fields, and order-line presentation. Orderform.java.svn-base is specifically reported to configure a JXTable with item number, stock number, manufacturer code, description, quantity, price, and total columns. Order.java.svn-base and Orderform.java.svn-base appear to be distinct form variants, not proven to be one runtime screen. E0004 E0006
Evidence: E0004, E0006

Order API

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: ID4_Orders.java.svn-base declares order operations, item and order totals, stock lookup, and invoice/report output methods. The interface establishes an API surface, while help entries state that order update and delete are currently not implemented; no implementation or caller is supplied. E0004
Evidence: E0004

Stock API

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: ID4_Stock.java.svn-base declares stock add, query, update, and delete methods. Help entries describe the corresponding stock options as currently not implemented, so the evidence supports declared responsibilities and documented status rather than successful runtime operations. E0004 E0006
Evidence: E0004, E0006

Report API

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: ID4_Report.java.svn-base declares label, accounts-receivable, backlog, stock, and report-output methods. The help material explicitly marks backlog and stock-list options as currently not implemented, despite their presence in the declared/report menu surface. E0004 E0006
Evidence: E0004, E0006

Generated Record Model

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: Generated artifacts include order, item, stock, invoice, and SQL-context-like records. P_Items.java.svn-base is reported to contain item number, stock number, manufacturer code, description, quantity, unit price, and total price fields; these artifacts support a schema-like data model but do not prove live persistence or a database schema. E0006
Evidence: E0006

Documented Transaction Boundary

Kind: component
Basis: inferred
Description: Embedded Informix-4GL examples contain SQL operations and BEGIN WORK, ROLLBACK WORK, and COMMIT WORK around order-related processing. This supports a documented transaction boundary or source heritage, but no Java connection layer, SQL execution path, or runtime wiring is supplied. E0004 E0006
Evidence: E0004, E0006

State Selection Form

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: State_List.java.svn-base is reported to configure a grid-like selection interface with state-code and state-name columns. Help text documents state lookup and validation behavior, but the callback connecting customer entry to this form is not present. E0004 E0006
Evidence: E0004, E0006

Relationships

No relationships are asserted. The supplied evidence names interfaces, form structures, and documentation examples, but does not show a component-to-component call site or a confirmed runtime data exchange. Interface method declarations, shared field names, menu entries, and embedded Informix-4GL examples are insufficient to establish a calls or exchanges relationship. E0004 E0006

Gaps

  • No executable caller-to-callee evidence connects Main Menu Interface to the customer, order, stock, or report components. E0004 E0006
  • No source-supported runtime relationship connects Order Form Layer to Order API, Stock API, Generated Record Model, or Documented Transaction Boundary. E0004 E0006
  • The actual database connection, SQL execution layer, persistence implementation, and transaction wiring are absent from the supplied evidence. E0004 E0006
  • The order total methods and the running-total display field are documented or declared, but calculation and update behavior are not established. E0006
  • Backlog and stock-list reporting remain contradictory at the feature-description level: report methods and menu entries exist, while help text says those options are not implemented. E0004 E0006
  • Missing or incomplete source coverage includes order-entry, stock, state-selection, and other form artifacts; several .svn files are repository metadata rather than application behavior. E0004 E0006
  • The evidence does not establish whether the two order-form variants participate in the same runtime flow. E0006

Recovery limitations

  • No supported relationships reconstructed.
  • Some identified concepts have no supported connection.
  • The view includes explicitly marked inference.
