Component cooperation

In this document

Which internal components cooperate, what are their responsibilities, and what passes between them?

This view shows the supported internal cooperation around order entry, stock management, reporting/invoicing, and application coordination. The main controller exposes submodules for customers, orders, stock, and reports, while shared mutable records are held through the global-state module E0011 E0012. The model distinguishes confirmed calls and exchanges from inferred dependencies, especially where customer implementation or framework behavior is missing E0012. It does not establish deployment placement or live runtime behavior; the supplied material is published source analysis with explicit completeness and semantic limitations E0010 E0012.

Evidence: E0012

D4_Stock

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: Stock-management module exposes add, find, update, and delete operations, but each corresponding method is evidenced as an unimplemented option E0012.
Evidence: E0012

D4_Report

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: Reporting component handles mailing-label and accounts-receivable report paths and exposes backlog and stock-list options whose implementations are unimplemented in the supplied source E0011 E0012.
Evidence: E0011, E0012

Informix Database

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: Database dependency accessed through JDBC for application initialization, order insertion and retrieval, stock loading, and report queries; the exact schema is not fully documented E0011 E0013.
Evidence: E0011, E0012, E0013

Report Framework

Kind: component
Basis: inferred
Description: Reporting dependency used to start reports, pass result rows to output routines, and finish report output. Its buffering and final-emission behavior are not supplied, so lifecycle correctness remains unresolved E0012.
Evidence: E0012

Order Records

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: Order data structures contain order number, order date, purchase-order number, and shipping instructions; invoice records combine order and item information with pricing and shipping details E0013.
Evidence: E0013

Stock Records

Kind: component
Basis: reported
Description: Stock records contain stock number, manufacturer code and name, description, unit price, and unit description E0013. Startup loading retains at most 30 stock rows in the evidenced in-memory array E0012.
Evidence: E0012, E0013

Relationships

From: D4_Main
To: D4_Orders
Relation: calls
Basis: reported
Description: D4_Main provides access to the order-management submodule from the main application menu E0011.
Evidence: E0011

From: D4_Main
To: D4_Cust
Relation: calls
Basis: reported
Description: The main module provides access to customer functionality, while the supplied customer interface declares customer maintenance operations; the implementation behind that interface is not supplied E0011 E0012.
Evidence: E0011, E0012

From: D4_Main
To: D4_Stock
Relation: calls
Basis: reported
Description: D4_Main provides access to the stock submodule, whose exposed CRUD options are evidenced as stubs rather than functioning stock operations E0011 E0012.
Evidence: E0011, E0012

From: D4_Main
To: D4_Report
Relation: calls
Basis: reported
Description: D4_Main provides access to the reporting submodule for the supported reporting paths E0011.
Evidence: E0011

Main controller to shared state

From: D4_Main
To: D4_Globals
Relation: calls
Basis: reported
Description: Startup invokes state and stock loaders before entering the main menu, and D4_Globals supplies the application-wide records used by modules E0011 E0012.
Information: State rows and stock rows.
Mechanism: Application module initialization and shared global records E0012.
Evidence: E0011, E0012

Order management to shared state

From: D4_Orders
To: D4_Globals
Relation: exchanges
Basis: reported
Description: Modules retrieve the same D4_Globals module through application lookup, exposing mutable customer, order, item, stock, and print-option records across flows E0012.
Information: Customer, order, item, and stock records; print option.
Mechanism: Application-wide mutable module state E0012.
Evidence: E0012

Order management to customer operations

From: D4_Orders
To: D4_Cust
Relation: calls
Basis: inferred
Description: The order flow depends on customer validation and customer selection, but the supplied evidence cannot independently confirm the implementation or status contract of those customer operations E0012.
Guard: Customer behavior and returned status values require confirmation.
Evidence: E0012

Order management to database

From: D4_Orders
To: Informix Database
Relation: exchanges
Basis: reported
Description: Order creation begins a transaction, inserts the order header, inserts line items, and commits after success; order retrieval and invoice generation also query order-related data E0011 E0012.
Information: Order headers, line items, customer-linked order data, totals, and invoice data.
Mechanism: JDBC database operations and explicit transaction branches E0011 E0012.
Control: Explicit rollback is evidenced for failed header operations and failed item insertion, but rollback after an uncaught exception is not established E0012.
Evidence: E0011, E0012

Order management to stock records

From: D4_Orders
To: Stock Records
Relation: exchanges
Basis: reported
Description: Order entry permits multiple line items with stock lookups, and invoice records include stock number, quantity, description, unit price, and manufacturer information E0011 E0013.
Information: Stock selection and item pricing data.
Evidence: E0011, E0013

Reporting to database

From: D4_Report
To: Informix Database
Relation: exchanges
Basis: reported
Description: Mailing-label reporting constructs a customer query and executes it against the database; reporting paths also retrieve customer, order, and pricing information E0012 E0013.
Information: Customer predicates, customer rows, order details, and totals.
Mechanism: JDBC statement preparation and result-set processing E0012.
Control: The mailing-label predicate is concatenated into SQL text; sanitization or restriction by the query-construction framework is not evidenced E0012.
Evidence: E0012, E0013

Reporting to report framework

From: D4_Report
To: Report Framework
Relation: calls
Basis: reported
Description: Report paths create and start reports, pass result rows to output routines, and finish the report; the supplied source does not define whether the framework buffers output correctly E0012.
Mechanism: Report start, row-output, and finish lifecycle E0012.
Evidence: E0012

Invoice to order records

From: D4_Orders
To: Order Records
Relation: exchanges
Basis: reported
Description: Invoice generation uses order header data, line items, calculated totals, customer details, and shipping information E0011 E0013.
Information: Order number, date, purchase order, shipping instructions, item quantities, prices, and totals.
Evidence: E0011, E0013

Gaps

The D4_Cust implementation is absent, so customer validation, customer selection, maintenance behavior, and returned status values remain unresolved E0012. The database schema for customers, orders, items, and stock is inferred from queries and record definitions rather than explicitly documented E0011 E0012 E0013.

The source confirms explicit rollback branches for some order-entry failures but does not establish rollback after exceptions handled by the broad exception path E0012. Report lifecycle correctness depends on unavailable framework semantics for buffering and final output E0012.

Stock CRUD, order update/delete, backlog reporting, and stock-list reporting are exposed as options but are evidenced as unimplemented; their menu presence must not be interpreted as successful cooperation E0012. Stock and state startup loading is bounded at 30 and 50 retained records respectively, with no established user-visible overflow warning E0012.

The mailing-label query construction requires security review because user-derived predicate text is concatenated into SQL, although injection is not proven from the supplied evidence E0012. The scope of command execution through the main module’s bang path is likewise unresolved because the framework implementation is unavailable E0012.

Recovery limitations

  • Ownership, mechanism or boundary controls remain explicitly unverified.
  • The view includes explicitly marked inference.
