Lifecycle states
In this document
Which states can a business object enter, and what triggers or guards each change?
This view covers lifecycle states for the Order business object only. The supplied evidence identifies an order form field named “backlog” and a shared collection of states, but it does not provide the allowed state values or prove that the field represents a lifecycle state. E0003 E0004
Order creation is implemented as a flow that collects a header and line items, inserts an order, inserts its items, commits, and generates an invoice; however, the evidence does not name the resulting order state. E0002 The fleet summary says that Orders supports updating order status, but the retained implementation reports that update_order() is not implemented, and the help evidence likewise characterizes order update as not implemented. E0001 E0002 E0004
No initial state, terminal state, successful state transition, trigger, or guard can therefore be established from the supplied material. This is a published-document recovery, not live runtime verification. E0002 E0004
Elements
Relationships
Gaps
- The evidence does not enumerate actual Order lifecycle state labels. The shared state arrays and state-selection methods establish only that state-related data structures or APIs exist; they do not establish their values or meanings. E0001 E0002 E0004
- The “backlog” field is reported as part of an order view, but the evidence does not establish whether it is a lifecycle state, a Boolean/status flag, or another order attribute. E0003 E0004
- No supported transition can be modeled because order creation is described as implemented without a named resulting state, while order-status update is contradicted by implementation evidence showing an unimplemented operation. E0001 E0002 E0004
- The supplied material does not establish initial or terminal states, transition guards, permitted state values, or whether paid date, ship date, backlog, or invoice generation correspond to lifecycle transitions. E0002 E0003 E0004
- Follow-up evidence needed includes the Order/state schema, the concrete state values and their meanings, and an implementation or authoritative specification for order-status changes. E0001 E0002
Recovery limitations
- No supported relationships reconstructed.

Harten documentation of the Informix 4GL and Java source repository, from the retained 17 October 2026 export. The exact upstream revision analysed is not established. Source findings do not establish runtime behaviour or equivalence between the implementations.
